This notice explains how we measure use of this app. It is written for users in the United States.

What we collect

We use a product analytics service to see how people use the app, so we can fix problems and make it better. This includes:

  • Usage analytics. The pages you visit, what you click, and key actions you take, such as signing in, viewing a statement, or submitting a change.
  • Session recordings. A recording of how a session looks on screen, so we can see where people get stuck.
  • Error reports. When the app hits a problem, we collect a short technical report about what went wrong so we can fix it. Personal details are removed from these reports before they are sent.
  • A random user ID. We tie this activity to a random ID, not to your email address or name. We also note which syndicate you belong to and your role in the app.
  • Technical details. Like most web services, the analytics service receives some technical details as part of normal use, such as your IP address, your browser type, your device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address.

What we mask or never record

Masking happens in your browser, before anything is sent to us.

  • Financial amounts (such as dollar amounts and ownership percentages) are masked or never recorded.
  • Personal details (such as names and email addresses) and anything you type into a form are masked or never recorded.
  • Error reports have personal details removed before they are sent.
  • Some parts of the app are not recorded at all: the sign-in pages, and staff support pages.

Cookies and local storage

The app uses a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in. Analytics doesn't use cookies; it uses your browser's local storage instead. We don't use cookies for analytics or advertising, so we don't show a cookie banner.

Who handles the data

The analytics service is PostHog. Our data is stored in PostHog's US cloud.

How long we keep it

  • Session recordings: 30 days.
  • Usage analytics events: up to 1 year.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data.
  • We use this data only to improve and support the product.
